On Sunday, May 16 Baton Rouge Gallery hosted its first ARTiculate Artist Talk. This new addition to the gallery’s Sundays@4 program welcomes the featured artists on view for the month of May walking and talking about the installations and other works they are displaying within the gallery.

On Wednesday April 7 Baton Rouge Gallery center for contemporary art, a special facility of BREC, announced the winners for the annual Community Fund for the Arts (CFA) REAL-LIFE EXPERIECE Juried High School Exhibition. This fresh and exciting exhibition showcases the work of high school students from East Baton Rouge Parish with the intention of encouraging and inspiring them to continue creating by experiencing seeing their work in a professional artistic setting.

On Wednesday, Mar 3 Baton Rouge Gallerycelebrated the work of four of its artist members: Judi Bets, Mary Claire Delony, Ross Jahnke and Brian Kelly. This exhibition features luminous watercolors, fine crated prints and paintings, vibrant colors and wildly energetic subject matter. The exhibition will run through Mar. 25, 2010.

On Sat. Jan. 23, Baton Rouge Gallery, was packed with unicorns, mermen, big pigs, a band of superheroes, tree nymphs and almost any other dreamlike creature one can imagine (and then some). These fantastical parties were all present for one reason: the Second Annual Surreal Salon Soiree.

A First Wednesday Opening Reception for Artist Members featured in December: Theresa Herrera, David Horton and Linda Jeffers and their work was held on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 7 – 9 p.m.

Baton Rouge Gallery’s annual fundraiser, Kinetics 2009, was held November 6th at the Gallery inside BREC’s historic City Park. Guests were entertained by an evening filled with art, silent and live art auctions, food, and music by the Michael Foster Project. Items up for bid in the Silent Auction included art and art-related goods and services from throughout the community. The highlight of the evening was the Live Auction featuring more than three dozen works by Baton Rouge Gallery Artists Members!
