The ultimate goal of my work is to create a symbiotic relationship between art and design.

I explore a range of painting, installation, found objects, and muralism. My method of painting fuses classical techniques, which mimic collage and digital media, creating a common thread of style through each piece, and a boldness that resonates within stark and urban environments.

My work balances abstract geometrical patterns, interruptions of shape and vibrant color, and elements of realism alluding to landscapes inspired by my desert environment or from my travels.

Studying the nuances of graphic design, I am interested in communication beyond spoken or written word, but rather by creating a universal language through an image. My visual language describes relatable stories of place and time, causing a similar experience for the viewer as 'Deja Visite' - having familiarity with a place never visited. The iconography in my work provides existential views and positive nods regarding humanity, enabling the viewer to feel comfort in allowing their mind to travel and transcend into a deeper state of the image.

THE LIGHT UP HERE IS BRIGHTER

ACRYLIC AND AEROSOL PAINT ON CIRCULAR WOOD PANEL, 14 IN. D., 2016

A realistic mountain peak is created in acrylic, using a classical oil painting technique. The background splits into a bold sunset created with aerosol, complimented by a textured field of acrylic.

Contrasting fields of abstract color and texture are combined with a realistic landscape element. Using shape, design and balance, I am interested in the beauty of human ambition in triumphing our most extreme environments.
