“I come from a family of musicians.  Beginning with piano, accordion and ending with drums and glockenspiel my musical career never took off. But I found my voice in the visual arts. Like a jazz musician improvises my work starts in a personal place. Each print takes an unpredictable path expressing a feeling about something or someplace. In music different instrumental sounds are arranged to express an idea. In visual art the elements of line, color, shape, texture, and value are the artist’s instruments. The selection of these elements becomes the arrangement. When I compose a print, I play with these elements. I wonder how loud or soft a color should appear.   I think about the shapes I use. Would a shape with angles and edges reinforce my ideas better than a curved shape? I wonder if a straight or curved line would add to the idea, or would at texture improve it. Relying on my experience and intuition I arrange these elements together to create a visual idea. My media is monotype. Each image is one of a kind.” - Goodell

This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Justin Tyler Bryant, & Haejung Lee. All works from these artists are on view, free of charge, during normal gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun) from October 5 - 28th.
