The Teachers
For the first time, this year’s REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE Juried High School Exhibition is proud to feature the work of local arts instructors alongside works from their students. They make deep and lasting impacts on those they teach, making them better students and better equipped for life beyond the classroom.
Their efforts can also be crucial to keeping students in school. According to The National Endowment for the Arts, among students classified as coming from a low socioeconomic background, those with “high arts participation” have just a 4% dropout rate (five times lower than their peers).
The inclusion of area art teachers in this year’s exhibition is a small way for us to lift up these dedicated educators and thank them for their tireless commitment to their students and making our community better.
