Movies & Music: 'Sherlock Jr.' & Antler Chandelier

Movies & Music on the Lawn Continues its 20th Season with Buster Keaton & Antler Chandelier

Join us on Saturday, June 30 when BRG's popular summer film series, Movies & Music on the Lawn, presented by Pop Shop Records, brings local Americana-influenced duo Antler Chandelier to perform a special, never-before-heard score for the hilarious Buster Keaton classic, "Sherlock Jr." (1924).

This will be the second of five presentations during Movies & Music's 20th year of bringing together the best silent films of all time with the best musicians of our time (and place).

As always, BRG members get in free of charge and everyone enjoys bottomless popcorn!

Antler Chandelier was formed in the spring of 2017 by Kristen Foster (of Polly Pry) and Denton Hatcher. Pairing Foster’s unconventional variety of folk country with Hatcher’s soulful singer songwriter style creates a sound as eclectic as their instrumentation. With a rotating membership of some of Baton Rouge’s finest musicians (Michael Holmes, Becca Babin, Doug Gay), they are rarely the same twice!

"Sherlock Jr." (1925) is slapstick giant Buster Keaton at his best!  Here he plays an unassuming movie projectionist longing to be a detective. After being framed for the robbing of his fiancee, Keaton puts his detective skills to work before falling asleep in his theater and dreaming that he is the masterful Sherlock Holmes. Full of visual gags and stunts - performed by Keaton himself - "Sherlock Jr." is without question one of the silent era's best comedies.

Join us as Antler Chandelier reimagines one of silent cinema's funniest films with their own 2018 take on the 1924 classic.
