About Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1920): First debuting in theatres more than 101 years ago, this acclaimed silent film follows scientist Dr. Henry Jekyll, as portrayed by one of the silent era’s biggest stars, John Barrymore. Jekyll is intelligent and diligent, but also uptight and serious about his work. When his friend, Sir George Carew (Brandon Hurst), takes him to a show featuring the Miss Gina (Nita Naldi), Jekyll sets out on a quest to separate man's saintly and sinful sides. His experiments succeed, and his evil alter ego, Mr. Hyde, is created. As the doctor uncontrollably alternates between Jekyll and Hyde, danger looms. (Run time: 1hr. 36 min.)

“Barrymore’s performance, at a time of no special effects, is brilliant. He transforms himself from the refined gentleman Dr. Henry Jekyll to the grotesquely evil Mr. Edward Hyde without the use of special makeup or any cinematic tricks by simply acting out the change and changing facial expressions, donning a wild wig and walking with a pronounced stoop. This was the picture that made Barrymore a household name.”
- Film Critic Dennis Schwartz

About Palomino Darling: The Baton Rouge-based duo known as Palomino Darling returns to Movies & Music on the Lawn for the first time since taking on Alfred Hitchcock in 2017. Writing and producing their own material, Katie Swetman and Sam Anselmo are equals in the songwriting process with Swetman focused on lyrics and melody while Anselmo hones in on instrumentation and arrangement. The pair describe their music as “rock, the heartbreaking kind.”

“Watching the group perform is like seeing Animal from the Muppets playing along with theme song from season one of ‘True Detective.’ In short, it's equally mysterious, beautiful and awe-inspiring.”
- Matthew Sigur, The Advocate
