Hosted by the La Capitale (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, you are invited - on the opening day of Free as They Want to Be: Artists Committed to Memory - to The West Baton Rouge Museum for an experience that extends beyond a traditional panel discussion and invites you to engage more deeply with the exhibition through spoken word from Luke St. John McKnight and music from saxophonist Eric Whitfield, followed by dialogue and community reflection.
The program will then transition into a moderated conversation exploring the ways artists, collectors, and cultural leaders preserve memory and shape the stories communities choose to carry forward. Moderated by Dr. Candace Alfred Weber (Arts Facet Chair, La Capitale (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated), the discussion will feature panelists including artist and cultural strategist Brandon "BMike" Odums and Gerri Hobdy (Principal at Pleroma, LLC and cultural leader).
As with all programming being held in conjunction with Free as They Want to Be, this event will be open to all with no admission fees.
