“The telling of magical tales has been part of my childhood upbringing; having been raised by an agoraphobic godmother. Her telling of magical creatures was a way of passing time on those sweltering New Orleans’ summer days. We alone knew the

reasoning behind the little girl living in a cooking pear tree, and doves leaving Juicy Fruit gum on the windowsills. We existed on the fringes of reality, acutely aware of the veil of that separated reality from fantisy, blowing into its iridescent skin like a bubble on a wand that stretched, contracted and then simply floated away. Through these memories I’ve created Tiny, Little Fables. A series of narrative artwork that stand alone, but also works together to create a larger story.

Tiny, Little Fables: The Flying Cicada Traveling Show

There is no richer visual than a traveling show. Filled with a menagerie of the most magical, of magical creatures. They are there to amaze and entertain; yet, unnerve the viewer. For as they are gazed upon with a sense of the fantastical, they too return the gaze back to the viewer. It’s through the veil of reality that these magical creatures are ostensible, but though through the iridescence skin, renders them illusory.” - Oddlokken
