Christy Diniz-Liffmann's work focuses on the artist’s long-standing appreciation of nature’s pattern, texture, and nuances of color and form. Her encaustic and acrylic paintings seamlessly blend her memories of specific places with landscapes conceived out of her own subconscious.

Diniz-Liffmann was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and grew up in a family that appreciated and practiced the arts. This atmosphere, rich with culture, was only enhanced by her close awareness and contact with the natural beauty of Brazil's flora and fauna.

No doubt, green calls me! My last major body of work was inspired by an incredible trip to the Brazilian Amazon. In 2020, I again traveled to Brazil to visit a family friend, Alice, who lived high in the Mantiqueira mountains of Minas Gerais. It was a green paradise surrounded by lush mountains, sparkling streams, waterfalls, glorious birds, and flowers.

I always travel with my watercolors and gouache and, fortunately, brought along full-size pieces of watercolor paper.  They allowed me to capture glorious vistas and I was eager to continue.

Diniz-Liffmann completed residencies from Art Base, China, and Auburn University in Italy and has exhibited from New Orleans to Houston to New Mexico.

This exhibition is presented alongside the latest works from Rosemary Goodell, David Horton, and Sam Losavio. All works from these artists are on view, free of charge, during regular gallery hours (12 - 6 p.m., Tue - Sun) from Aug 1 - 31, 2023.
