climbing the walls

the gallery will be open during regular business hours (Tu - Su, 12pm - 6pm). social distancing and masks are required for those who have yet to complete their covid-19 vaccinations.

the first wednesday opening reception for this exhibition will be held on wednesday, july 7th from 6 - 9pm, and an artist talk about the show will be held on Sunday, july 11 from 4 - 6pm as a part of our ARTiculate series.

From seed pods to constellations, Boudreau is amazed by natural systems. Their simple and complex physical structures and cooperative functions provide her with endless inspiration. She makes rigid and soft constructions typically using a combination of wire, twine, fabric, and acrylic paint. Much like the balance of forces found in nature, her handmade forms are fragile yet stable. When possible, Boudreau prefers to install her own work. She considers her response to the physical space and the placement of her work as an integral part of her creative process.

“The old expression ‘climbing the walls’ speaks to the physical aspects of my current installation. It is also a perfect sentiment to describe the challenges and anxieties that I, and others, have endured over the past year due to the pandemic, death, climate change and heightened social injustices.

My desire to find a place or interval of balance is part of what motivates me to make art. Through the making and sharing of my creations I am able to release pent up energies and to reflect on what is happening in our world — in places near and far — in times of past, present and future.

Now more than ever, I hope that all living beings can actively consider and foster a healthier balance within and between our natural and societal structures.” - Boudreau
